Tis the season and with that comes confections, treats, potlucks, and feasts. It seems everyone loves to celebrate the holidays with food. We don’t know about you, but it wreaks havoc on our waistlines. During the holiday season it seems that there are a great many opportunities to indulge, but schools produce those opportunities in abundance. For anyone who has ever let themselves go a little over the holidays, you are NOT alone! Here is our take on a teacher’s typical holiday food diary:
It begins! There was a Thanksgiving Potluck lunch today. I skipped breakfast in anticipation of this event. Bad move, BAD move. A parent brought donuts and put them in the lounge for us. I tried to stay away, but everyone was walking by my door with one, and they were the GOOD kind. I mean, I deserve to treat myself after these last two weeks of observations and parent conferences, right? Besides, I will just have to be really good on Wednesday and Friday.
I ate ALL THE FOOD in the history of EVER. Then I went back and did it AGAIN. I’m just writing this one off. What happens on a holiday, stays on a holiday.
3 Weeks until Christmas Break:
I had been doing pretty well. Alright, just okay. I made the mistake of stopping in the office to make copies. There was a huge tray of homemade fudge and other delicious confections. Before I knew what had happened, I had eaten 4 fudge squares and half a cookie! Worst of all I forgot to make my copies. Let’s pray when I go back tomorrow morning the treats are gone.
Since Tuesday this week has just gone downhill….FAST. You know what they say about good intentions…
2 Weeks Until Christmas Break:
I did it! For one whole GLORIOUS day, I was good! That means it can happen again, right?
WRONG! I blame my co-teacher, she brought my favorite bagel and her legendary hot chocolate for breakfast. How could I say no? It’s LEGENDARY! I will workout tomorrow to make up for it.
Why would I ever work out after being on my feet ALL day?! Only a crazy person would torture themselves in that way!
1 Week Until Christmas Break:
I threw a pizza party for my students today. I ate the salad I brought, but the pizza smelled so delicious and there were four pieces left. I only ate two, okay; four.
Sooo The PTO surprised us with a Christmas potluck today. Not to be confused with the staff potluck tomorrow…
Clothing size: Unknown
I tried to put my pants on this morning and I couldn’t get them all the way up. I found the pair that run a little bigger and stuffed myself inside, but it was too uncomfortable. I finally switched to a pair of black yoga pants. I literally do not know what size I am.
All of the students are bringing treats in to give to me as Christmas gifts. It’s only second period and I already have 3 plates of cookies. I mean what type of MONSTER would I be if I didn’t eat the treats my students spent so much time and love preparing.
All bets are off. After the semester I’ve had I deserve to spend this time doing whatever relaxes me and makes me happy, I mean that IS why I was so careful to watch what I was eating up to this point. See you in Jan food diary!
